Kyrenia

This is part of the harbour in Kyrenia, we went down there on a couple of occasions, once in the day and once in the evening. We would take public transport, which meant walking to the main road and flagging down one of the many white minibuses that drive up and down all day and night. This is far much better than getting a taxi as it gives you more of a local experience and also it is about ten times cheaper. I always used to have a good chuckle about how funny we must have looked.
It was quite a bustling place at times, compared to the village where we were staying . The main part of the harbour is actually very picturesque, especially at night when it is lit up by all the twinkling lights of the waterfront tavernas. There are lots of interesting shops, a few that sold nothing but mountains of very delicious Turkish delight , in every flavour your heart could desire. We had a Turkish coffee, thick and sweet, in one of the expensive waterside bars, where they tried to keep their customers cool with giant fans, and comfortable in soft, homely chairs.
At night it was humid and sweltering, my jeans stuck to my legs, there weren't as many people around as we thought there would be, maybe they only come out much later. Anyway , we had a pleasant meal and walked along the harbour wall, which was relatively deserted , save for a few fishermen gazing into the blackness of the ocean. And if you're into history the area is rich in it, as you can see by the castle on the right hand side. Incidentally, I saw more casinos in this little town than I have seen anywhere, apart from Las Vegas.

Northern Cyprus

Hi everyone, feeling recharged after our break. This was the view we had from our room and every day we would awake to the heat and sunshine, what a pleasure. Some days I would wake myself up by diving into the pool and gliding through the warm water, before going to wake Gerald up for breakfast. Then we would plan what we were going to do for the day which was inevitably nothing! It was the quietest holiday I have ever had and boy did we need it. Mornings were mostly spent on the beach where I took to dining into the azure waters which were also as warm as bathwater, I always find floating around in the sea to be quite healing and I love to feel the energy of the waves. Lunch was normally spent in the shade of the terrace before retiring to the pool area for the afternoon, soaking up the sun and mastering the art of chilling. In the evenings we would sit outside our room for a while before going for dinner, which was also on the terrace overlooking the sea. The moon would rise behind Gerald, always full and bright. All around, the air was infused with the smell of jasmine, thick and sweet. After eating we would go for a walk in the little village, peeping into people's houses to see how they lived. It wasn't difficult as it is so hot that people just keep all their doors open and sit outside. I also used to love sitting on the beach quite late at night and just being by the ocean. One night the moon turned the water silver and it was quite trippy. If you looked at it for a long time,it seemed as if the water was full of millions of shining stars. Then it was sleep, sleep, sleep, with some of the most clear and vivid dreams I have had for a long time. So that was a typical day really, although we did do some other interesting stuff, but alas I have to sign off for today!

Sun and sea here we come

Hi everyone, just getting ready to go now, what a great feeling it is to be going away. Strange things going on in the Cling household again. Gerald was meant to be doing some music yesterday , but he started getting caught up in all our online stuff, all of a sudden for no apparent reason, we lost our connection, I couldn't believe it, after all the trouble we had with the other lot . I then had to phone another helpline, they could not fix the problem and told me an engineer would have to come to the house, great!! So Gerald started working on the music and I was doing other stuff, just before I went to bed I thought I would check the modem again and strangely enough, it was all working perfectly. So don't ask me what all that was about, is there a ghost in the house that gets fed up of us being online all the time? Parts of the house seem cold enough to harbour other entities.
So, we intend to have a fab time and I will catch up with you when we get back, with loads of photos and stories to tell you. Until then ...

A few days to go

In a few days time we will be far away, just chilling on a beach. It's going to be so weird to do nothing after working so hard this whole year. Sometimes the stress of it all becomes too much and one finds oneself becoming rather disenchanted with life and little things turn into big dilemmas. I get so angry with myself for letting all the negativity get in the way of what I should be doing. I always try to force myself to do something positive when faced with these situations, even if it is something simple like some deep breathing exercises. You see I haven't been running yet this week either because all it has done is rain and for the past two nights, it has been so chilly that we have had to have a fire- yes, in the middle of August!
I was horrified the other day, I ran into a friend of mine who is always perfectly groomed, I complimented her on her lovely hair, then as she turned to the side, I was mortified to notice that when I had kissed her on the cheek to say hello, I had missed and caught her hair instead and there was a big ,shiny, sticky, pink lip- print in her perfect coiffure. I pretended nothing was afoot, but I found myself transfixed by it, she must have wondered why I was peering at her so intently. Should I have said something??

Nyo's twin

11pm and all is quiet outside, that's what I love about living in the country, no sirens blaring all night long , only the occasional car to be heard.
Today I was freaked out, we had to go to the pet shop so I could buy somesunflower seeds for Nyo, I decided to go and look at the birds as I always do and what did I see before my eyes? The exact replica of Nyo, and guess what? It was the only lovebird on it's own, I nearly bought it cos i felt sorry for it and I also thought how good it would be for Nyo to have some company after all these years. If I'd had a spare cage at home, it would probably be sitting here now!
It was a showery day today we were forever going outside then having to move everything and come in again and tonight is rather chilly, so chilly my feet are like little blocks of ice! So I have run a steamy bath and am just about to immerse myself in the luxuriously hot water. This time next week we will be listening to the sound of the ocean.
Don't forget we have an official Facebook page where you can become our fan as well!
Keep on Clinging!

Found somewhere!

After days trawling the internet, I finally found us somewhere to go on hols, so we are leaving next weekend. I'm really looking forward to lazing around on the beach with some stunning scenery in the background and a belly full of delicious food! Just to do nothing...
Anyway, I have a few days before we leave to do some long overdue stuff. I need some new sunbathing attire as well, I hope there are still some in the shops. Trust us to leave everything to chance and also till the last minute.
Don't you love looking at the sky sometimes, when the clouds paint pictures in it or make strange patterns? I couldn't help but notice when I was driving into London a couple of nights ago, the sky was a powder blue colour and it was as if someone had sprayed fluffy grey clouds onto it. The skyline of the city looked amazing silhouetted in front of it, especially all the strange shaped buildings like the gherkin building. It looked like a 21st century portrait. It is refreshing to find beauty in the mundane.
Hope you are all having a fab weekend !!

Busy, busy

Still working hard, Gerald is busy promoting Groovyshoes amongst other things. I am still looking for somewhere that we can go on holiday to as early as next week. Talk about leaving everything till the last minute. I don't know how we ended up so stretched for time. Plus yesterday I was struck down by a migraine which left me feeling very ill indeed, but we had to persevere and not give in to it all. Today is overcast and I am thinking of one of my friends that went camping yesterday, I hope they took their waterproofs!
The other morning, I came home really early, my Mum didn't know I was up and I caught her roaming around in the garden with a stocking on her head! I am quite used to seeing her like this as she has done such things all her life, she says that it is better than a hair net for keeping her hair in place. I remember when I was small, in the winter she used to put a tea cosy on my head to keep it warm! Anyway, I mentioned something about hoping that the neighbours don't see her dressed like that, she said she gets up earlier than everyone else. She has also befriended that awful dog from next door, now the monster comes to the fence to say hello to her, she better not start sneaking it in here, I know her too well!
Well, I better get on with some work and stop all this idle chatter..

Groovyshoes

Groovyshoes is ready at last and we will be releasing it at midnight tonight (GMT), just in time for the weekend. At last, I hear you say.The edited version will be on MySpace and at Reverbnation.com/cling there will be the full-length version plus an exclusive free download of the instrumental version. Good things are always worth waiting for. We actually performed it live the other night, but it still needed a few adjustments, so Gerald had to go back to the drawing board, but at last he is happy with it, so enjoy! I must say, it sounds pretty funky. Exciting! So have a listen and tell us what you think, we always welcome your feedback! Bye for now and enjoy your weekend !
