What did we do without them??
What did we ever do before the advent of the mobile phone?? Is it only in the UK that we call them mobiles?? Yesterday mine packed in and it's as if I've lost one of my limbs, I can't bear it. Thank goodness I have a spare phone , but it's so old it's almost embarrassing. What did we do before them? Can you ever remember arranging to meet someone and just waiting patiently for them to turn up, instead of ringing them constantly to see where they are? Imagine going out now in your car without your phone, what would you do if you broke down? Or if you were stuck on a train, late for work?? The scenarios are mind boggling. Technology has taken over the western world. How different to rural Africa for example , where some people don't even have electricity, heating water and cooking are all done over open fires! Part of me wants to be that person who lives a simple life, close to nature, it's just a different kind of struggle. I think it's hardest for the people caught between the two worlds.
